Much of NJ drinking water is sourced from groundwater, it is estimated that nearly 1 million people in NJ rely solely on groundwater as their water supply.

Environmental Commissions can play a critical role in protecting groundwater supply through appropriate stormwater management.  It is important to preserve land having high ground water recharge,
