Hour of Action: Save NJ School of Conservaton

Monday,  June 15th Noon Via Zoom Meeting Register here!

Join us for an Hour of Action to learn how together, we can save the New Jersey School of Conservation. You will hear from NJSOC's Executive Director, Kerry Kirk Pflugh, and Jennifer Coffey, ANJEC Executive Director and Board President of NJSOC.

After more than 75 years of leading the world in outdoor education, the gates of New Jersey School of Conservation (NJSOC) are at risk of closing forever. Governor Sherrill's proposed budget eliminates all funding for NJSOC, but the budget fight isn't over until June 30, 2026. This isn't just about a school, it's about New Jersey's future. NJSOC is our nation's oldest year-round, residential environmental education center in the country. NJSOC has a long and celebrated history beginning in 1949.  NJSOC is a critical resource for students, teachers securing continuing education, nine universities conducting research, and so much more.....

  • A Mental Health Lifeline: At a time when our youth are facing a mental health crisis, NJSOC provides the social and emotional learning tools they need to build resilience.
  • Advancing Equity in the Outdoors: More than half of students attending programs come from low-income schools. NJSOC is breaking down the barriers that have historically kept underprivileged youth from the outdoors.
  • A Workforce Pipeline: NJSOC is preparing the green-energy workforce and environmental engineers of tomorrow.
