Drinking Water

New Jersey has some of the strictest standards for public drinking water anywhere and one of the most comprehensive private well testing requirements in the country.  However, there are concerns about the presence of unregulated chemicals, such as PFAS, in the drinking water. New Jersey is actively working to address these concerns, with some water providers investing in filtration systems to remove contaminants. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about their water quality by reading the annual Consumer Confidence Report of your water provider and getting involved in public hearings related to water sources. It’s also important to prevent water contamination by reducing the use of pesticides and being mindful of substances that can enter the drinking water from septic systems
